Next, you will visit the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the oldest major stone structure in the world. This magnificent structure was built for King Djoser during the 3rd Dynasty. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before proceeding to Memphis. Memphis, founded by King Menes, was the first capital of Egypt and remained a center of rule and culture for over 3000 years during the Old Kingdom. Here, you can see the statue of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx of Memphis.
After this wonderful excursion, you will spend the night in Cairo.
Your private tour to Alexandria from Cairo will begin with a pick-up time from your hotel at 7:00 am by our Egyptologist. You will then be transferred by private A/C vehicle to Alexandria, which is 220 km northwest of Cairo. You are expected to arrive in Alexandria around 10 am.
The first stop on your tour will be the Roman Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa. The catacombs were believed to have been built in the 2nd century A.D. and were used as a burial site for around 200 years. The site is an interesting mix of different cultures, including ancient Egyptian history dating back thousands of years.
Next, you will visit Pompey’s Pillar, which stands at 25 meters tall and is the tallest ancient monument in Alexandria. Despite its name, the column was not built to honor Pompey, but rather Emperor Diocletian.
Your next stop will be the Citadel of Sultan Qeitbay, built in the 15th century by the Mamluk Sultan Qeitbay to protect the city from Crusader threats. This magnificent Islamic monument was built using the ruins of the old lighthouse, constructed by Ptolemy II in the 3rd century B.C. The lighthouse was destroyed during an earthquake in 1303 A.D.
You will then have lunch in an Egyptian restaurant in the fish market of Alexandria. After lunch, you will visit the new Library of Alexandria, which was rebuilt in October 2002. The library is not only a beautiful building but also a vast complex where arts, history, philosophy, and science converge.
After your tour, you will be transferred back to Cairo and arrive at 19:00.
A representative will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 am to start your tour. The first stop will be the Egyptian Museum, which houses a rare collection of over 250,000 genuine artifacts that date back 5,000 years. You will also see the exclusive exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamun, showcasing treasures, gold, and jewelry that were buried with him for over 3,500 years before they were discovered in 1920.
Next, you will visit the Saladin Citadel, built by Salah al-Din in 1183 AD on the Moqattam Hills to defend against Crusader armies. It is now a preserved historic site of mosques and museums, including the beautiful Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha, designed by Turkish architect Yousif Boushnaq.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Old Cairo before visiting major attractions such as the Hanging Church, the Ben Ezra Synagogue, the Church of St. Barbara, and the Church of Abu Serga – one of the oldest Coptic churches in Cairo.
The tour will end at the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest bazaars in the Middle East. Explore the maze of alleys that have been at the center of Cairo’s trading activities since the 14th century. Afterward, you will be driven back to your hotel. Overnight in Cairo.
